Kiekvienas procesas vyksta su tam tikru prioritetu, vadinamu gražiu lygiu. Didelio prioriteto procesas uždirbs daugiau procesoriaus laiko nei mažesnių prioritetų, todėl atrodo, kad jis vyks greičiau. Pakeisti gražų lygį išties prasminga tik procesoriams imliuose procesuose, nes dauguma programų beveik visą laiką praleidžia laukdami kažko (pvz., Vartotojo įvesties) ir todėl nebus naudingos ar kentės, jei pasikeis jų prioritetas.
